The Next Generation in a Small Town

We are excited that Business NH Magazine has devoted their March issue to the progress we are making in Newport and our Sunshine Initiative.

At one level, the Newport Sunshine Initiative is about revitalizing the economy of my wonderful hometown, Newport, New Hampshire. However, in truth, it’s really also about doing something important and positive for the ‘Next Generation.’ Turning around the slow economic decline of a small town and providing exciting opportunities for growth going forward. We want to invest in the next generation to make sure that they can pursue dreams, raise families and fulfill the unique purpose of every individual. So, as we rebuild the economy of our community, we are also reinvigorating the spirit and building a strong foundation for the next generation of Newporter’s.

Children of Fallen Patriots – The Next Generation

There is no finer organization. There is no worthier purpose. Than that of Children of Fallen Patriots. Fully devoted to making sure that every child who loses a parent in active military service can have their education paid for all the way thru college. Or vocational school…. Or whatever further education will give that child the best opportunity for success.

We in New Hampshire are especially proud to support this organization. We’ve made terrific progress over the past year – and have ambitious plans to do even more in 2019. In the past year, we have raised more than $100,000+, attracted more than 1,000+ grassroots supporters and have raised the profile of this great organization. Most important, we have also helped twelve deserving Granite State recipients with their education.

In the coming months, we would love to invite you to become involved. We need volunteers to help at our events. We need your help in identifying and locating potential recipients. Of course, we greatly welcome financial support and are always available to come speak to your group and spread the word. Please just let us know if you have an interest.

And make sure to mark Thursday, October 10th on your calendar for our Third Annual Fall Reception – at the LaBelle Winery in Amherst, NH.

And It’s Also About Honoring the Past Generation

While we are investing in the ‘Next Generation,’ we can never forget the great sacrifices of those who have gone before us. With this in mind, thought you might enjoy the above video. A ‘throwback’ in tribute to the ‘Greatest Generation,’ as Paul Chevalier and I visited the NH Veterans Home a year ago. Volunteers on behalf of Children of Fallen Patriots contributed gifts to share with the veterans at Christmas time and we had the pleasure of visiting the Home and sharing our best wishes.
